With Telefrag VR (Anshar Studios) introducing Quake to VR, the arena shooter did something ultimately fun and great. Fast paced and visceral combat set in sci-fi Rome calls to the FPS of the 90’s, bringing seemingly old fun to virtual reality gameplay. Finally, we can dig into the music as the soundtrack was just released.

This short album should satisfy the fans of the genre.

The game’s score was composed by Mikolai Stroinski, who you may know from The Witcher 3, and Agnieszka Ruminska. As Ashnar Studios was going for the feel of Unreal games, the music had to follow that path, making the player act quickly and get him lost in the flow.

The score does feel like Unreal, especially on the electronic part.

Quick paced electronics and beats (Mobius Villa, Fallen Champion) dominate this short album, with Lazarus Grotto slowing down the tempo between the action pieces. The score does feel like Unreal, especially on the electronic part, but the Rome setting and gladiators aren’t that noticeable.

For what’s presented, it’s an intense, short listen that leaves no time for filler and should satisfy the fans of the genre.
