Austrin Wintory has already released a short video showing us the fragments of his recent recording session for his upcoming score for the sci-fi action game Aliens: Fireteam Elite.

The soundtrack sounds awesome: it is fierce, dynamic and tense.

As a huge fan of the movie franchise as well as the amazing Alien: Isolation game from 2014, I am more than thrilled by this announcement. The composer is also a fan, in particular of the first two films. As he says: ” I think the scores to all 3 of the originals are among the very best by their respective composers (Goldsmith, Horner, Goldenthal). I always love writing big action scores and this one, which blends with horror and a touch of sci-fi, is a gem. Who wouldn’t want to?? Plus I’m always looking for new challenges and adventures.”

He also mentions: “The biggest challenge was finding ways to honor the original trilogy of scores, while not mimicking them overtly. I tried to bring something fresh to the landscape of these scores while not leaving them behind.” This can be heard in what might be the main theme of the game’s score, played by the amazing woodwind player, Kristin Naigus. It has the vibes of the first Alien movie definitely.

From what we can already hear in the video, the soundtrack sounds awesome: it is fierce, dynamic and tense. I can be sure that Austin Wintory will pay the deserved homage to the original Alien scores while adding his original ideas to the OST as well.
