All of us that happily dig through any behind the scenes materials from composers, are lucky today. One of video game music giants, Austin Wintory, added on his blog a post about The Pathless – namely it’s soundtrack, which he is currently working on. As he writes: „I never do this. This will be a series of blog posts about a score as I’m writing it, which is something I would normally avoid like the plague. But this is a chance to try something new and expose the creative process mid-stream.”

The composer tells us the story of collaborating with the developers of Journey, Abzû and upcoming The Pathless, shares the first track from the game (see above) and presents us with the process which led him to write the first notes of the whole soundtrack. Trust me, the read is good.
